Officials said that although both sides publicly maintained their positions, the initial phase of discussions ended without any formal agreement. Despite the lack of progress, Pakistani authorities remain cautiously optimistic about the possibility of renewed engagement in the coming days.
A senior source revealed that Pakistan is maintaining continuous contact with both Washington and Tehran, urging them to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible. The primary objective is to reach a workable understanding before the current ceasefire deadline, reportedly set for around 22 April, expires. Authorities warn that failure to achieve progress within this timeframe could increase the risk of renewed escalation in the region.
According to officials, efforts are underway to organize a second round of talks during this critical window. These diplomatic initiatives are being carried out under the direct guidance of the Prime Minister, reflecting the high priority Islamabad has placed on the issue.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir are reportedly leading Pakistan’s mediation efforts. Both figures previously played a key role in bringing the two sides closer to dialogue.
