GUJRAT: In the 54th Syndicate meeting of the University of Gujrat, it was announced that 27 new buses will be added to the university’s transport fleet to enhance student travel and comfort. Out of these, 10 buses will be inducted in April, while 8 more are expected to be added by June.
The Syndicate also approved the appointment of Sheikh Tariq Mahmood as a member of the Selection Board for a period of three years, and Dean Professor Dr. Faisal Mahmood Mirza as a member of the Finance and Planning Committee.
Syndicate members expressed satisfaction over the progress report presented on various development projects, including the construction of boundary walls, installation of solar systems, and renovation of academic blocks and hostel buildings.

The meeting was held at Hafiz Hayat Campus and chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zahoor ul Haq (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz). Syndicate members from diverse backgrounds participated both physically and online, reviewing academic and administrative affairs and offering valuable suggestions to further strengthen the institution’s role in producing highly skilled human capital for Pakistan.

In his opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor thanked the Syndicate members for their continued guidance. He emphasized that facilitating students in academic and research pursuits is the foremost responsibility of the university administration and faculty, describing students as the institution’s most valuable asset.
The syndicate appreciated the university’s achievements, sound financial management, growing reputation, and comprehensive educational policies. Members also acknowledged the leadership of the Vice Chancellor in shaping the university into a dynamic, modern, and forward-looking institution.

The meeting approved the implementation of decisions from the 53rd syndicate meeting, as well as financial decisions taken in the 34th and 35th meetings of the Finance and Planning Committee. Additionally, decisions and initiatives from the 29th Academic Council regarding academic and research development were also endorsed.

At the start of the meeting, new syndicate members were welcomed, including Professor (Retd.) Ghazala Parvez Zaman and Professor Dr. Tayyaba Wasim. Engineer Muhammad Raza Chohan (representative of HEC Islamabad) and CEO District Education Authority Gujrat Akhtar Ali Khan were also welcomed on their first participation.
The meeting was facilitated by Registrar Muhammad Naeem Butt as Secretary Syndicate. Several members attended in person, while others, including government representatives and academic leaders, joined online.
