The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Friday warned of flash flooding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until Sunday. Heavy rainfall from an active westerly system is expected to affect southern, central, and upper districts, putting residents at risk and prompting emergency preparedness. Local streams, nullahs, and urban areas could experience sudden flooding, threatening homes and infrastructure.
NDMA highlighted the districts most at risk, including Bannu, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, North and South Waziristan, Kurram, Karak, Orakzai, Kohat, Cherat, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Swabi, Charsadda, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Mohmand, and Bajaur. Authorities advised residents to remain vigilant and avoid low-lying areas prone to rapid water rise.

The warning follows widespread damage from rain-related incidents since March 25, with at least 25 people killed and dozens injured across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported 77 houses affected, including 33 destroyed, particularly in Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Karak districts.
Rescue 1122 teams have been deployed to provide emergency support, including medical aid and temporary shelters for displaced families. Officials are clearing debris and restoring access to remote areas cut off by heavy rains, emphasizing the importance of staying indoors during peak rainfall.
