Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has clarified that he is not involved in the money laundering case filed against his sister, Dr Fazeela Abbasi. In an Instagram post on Saturday, he stressed he is not “part of this case in any capacity” and is not under investigation by any agency. He emphasized that while he supports his sister, her professional and legal matters are entirely separate from him.
Hamza described his sister as a “highly accomplished professional” and said he stands by her “with love and support during this time.” He expressed confidence in her integrity and in the institutions ensuring that justice is served and the truth prevails. He also requested that the public and media avoid expecting him to comment further on the case.

He warned that any attempts to associate him with the case would prompt legal action from his team. Hamza added that it is Dr Fazeela’s personal choice whether to respond publicly regarding her legal matters. His clarification came following reports linking him indirectly to one of the accounts under investigation.
Dr Fazeela’s appeal for pre-arrest bail on medical grounds was dismissed by a special judge in Islamabad on Thursday due to her non-appearance and alleged misuse of legal relief. She is accused of unauthorized foreign currency dealings, unlicensed money-service operations, illicit cross-border remittances, and using informal channels like Hawala/Hundi.
The FIR claims she held 22 bank accounts with a combined turnover of around Rs2.5 billion while her declared income ranged from Rs400,000 to Rs6 million.

The case against Dr Fazeela is registered under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 1947, the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2010, and the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947, read with Section 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Although Hamza appears as a joint account holder on one of the accounts being investigated alongside their mother, the FIA lists only Dr Fazeela as the accused.
