Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif said he would like to become the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir if his party wins the upcoming elections. He made the remarks while addressing a public rally in Muzaffarabad.
Nawaz said he would ask Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to appoint him as AJK prime minister if the PML-N secures victory. He described Azad Kashmir as his second home and said it was as dear to him as Punjab.

He pledged to resolve the region’s major issues if the PML-N forms the next government in Azad Kashmir. Additionally, he promised to visit the region every three months to personally review public concerns.
Meanwhile, Nawaz proposed constructing a motorway along the Jhelum River to improve regional connectivity. He also vowed to increase the Azad Kashmir budget tenfold if his party comes to power.
Moreover, he credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with launching major development projects in Punjab and said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was completing them. He announced that the Punjab government would provide 10 green buses for Muzaffarabad.

The speech came as political parties intensified campaigning ahead of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections. Senior leaders have increased public outreach efforts to secure support across the region.
The AJK election campaign is expected to continue until polling begins under the announced election schedule. Political parties are focusing on development, governance, and public welfare as key campaign themes.
