Veteran actress Saba Hameed has publicly commented on the protracted legal dispute between her daughter, singer Meesha Shafi, and fellow musician Ali Zafar, as the case approaches a potential resolution.

The controversy began in April 2018 when Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar of harassment. Ali Zafar has consistently denied the allegations, claiming they were an attempt to damage his reputation. The case has since spurred multiple legal proceedings, including a defamation suit filed by Zafar, and has remained under judicial consideration for several years.

Recently, Saba Hameed has been appearing in court on behalf of her daughter, who currently resides in Canada. Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, Hameed refrained from discussing detailed aspects of the case but emphasized the family’s resolve.
“Listen, I cannot say much about the case here because the decision will be announced soon. But we have been fighting this for eight years, and we are not accepting defeat in this matter. Also, how can one speak with someone who has no respect for women?” she said, highlighting the seriousness with which they are pursuing justice.
Prior to the dispute, Shafi and Zafar shared a cordial personal and professional relationship, having been friends since their college days and collaborating on musical projects, including the popular track Chal Dil Mere.
During media interactions outside the court, Ali Zafar left the premises alongside his wife, Ayesha Fazli, without commenting to reporters.
