Jerusalem: Israel military reported on Monday that it was intercepting missiles fired from Iran and urged residents to take cover as tensions escalated in the region.

In a Telegram post, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had identified incoming missiles launched toward Israeli territory and that its defensive systems were actively working to neutralize the threat. Authorities instructed citizens to seek immediate shelter amid the alert.
At the same time, explosions were reported in Tehran early Monday morning, with Iranian media outlets confirming that Israel had launched airstrikes targeting multiple locations in the capital. According to local reports from Mehr News Agency and Fars News Agency, at least five areas were hit, producing loud blasts and thick plumes of black smoke that remained visible for more than an hour.
The IDF stated that it had initiated a “wide-scale wave of strikes” aimed at what it described as Iranian terror infrastructure in Tehran. Officials have not disclosed the full extent of the damage or potential casualties.
The exchange comes amid heightened regional hostilities, with both nations already engaged in escalating military and strategic confrontations. Analysts have warned that the latest developments could further destabilize the region, impacting security across the Middle East.
