LAHORE – Punjab has approved the establishment of its first Skill City to strengthen technical and vocational education, aiming to equip young people with practical skills aligned with modern industry demands and employment opportunities.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to present detailed proposals and implementation plans, ensuring that the project develops high-quality Technical Education Institutes designed to meet evolving workforce requirements.

The initiative will create centers of excellence across the province, offering industry-focused training that enables students to secure better job opportunities after matriculation while reducing the gap between education and market needs.
Moreover, the Technical and Vocational Education Board of Punjab plans to collaborate with institutions in Scotland and the United Kingdom, aiming to introduce international standards and improve the quality of technical training programs.

The Skill City will offer diverse courses, including graphic designing, media production, fashion designing, data coding, tourism training, as well as technical trades such as electrician work, plumbing, solar systems, and culinary arts.
Additionally, the chief minister has instructed officials to hire highly qualified teachers and involve industry experts in designing curricula, ensuring students gain practical, relevant skills that directly enhance employability in competitive job markets.
