Volodymyr Zelenskiy claimed that Russia is supplying Iran with Shahed drones, which are being used against United States and Israel, raising concerns about regional security amid ongoing conflicts.
In an interview with CNN, Zelenskiy asserted that it is “100% facts” that Iran has deployed Russian-made Shahed drones to attack US bases. He emphasized that these drones have been instrumental in multiple strikes across the Middle East.
Shahed drones, originally developed by Iran, are a cost-effective alternative to traditional missiles and have been linked to attacks on various countries in the region. Their use has expanded as nations adopt drone technology for strategic operations.

While Iran initially manufactured the Shahed drones, Russian forces began producing their own versions. Russia deployed thousands of Shaheds during its invasion of Ukraine since late 2022, illustrating the weapon’s tactical importance in modern warfare.
Other nations, including the US military, have acknowledged the operational significance of Shahed-type drones. These drones have influenced recent military campaigns, with multiple armed forces integrating similar systems to counter regional threats efficiently.
Experts warn that the continued proliferation of Shahed drones could further destabilize the Middle East, especially as alliances form and combat strategies evolve, making regional security and monitoring a growing international priority.
