US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed on Friday that Iran’s missile industry had been completely destroyed. He said Iran no longer possesses effective air defence and that American forces remain in control of the conflict. Hegseth added that the decision on ending the war rests solely with President Donald Trump.
During a news briefing, Hegseth said Iranian leaders had moved to bunkers and civilian areas as the US escalates strikes. He stated that the supreme leader had been wounded and that key officials had disappeared from public view. According to him, Iran’s naval mine-laying capability remains under American surveillance.

Hegseth emphasized that the most intense phase of US strikes was underway, targeting all defence facilities. He said the objective of operations is to eliminate Iran’s defence infrastructure completely. Officials also confirmed that attacks focus on military and strategic installations, avoiding unnecessary civilian targets where possible.
The US defence chief warned that American forces are prepared for further aggressive operations inside Iran. He dismissed reports from media outlets such as CNN, calling them “fake news” about the conflict. Hegseth reiterated that no mercy would be shown in continuing military operations.

Hegseth concluded by stating that all Iranian defence companies would soon be destroyed, and that US forces would continue to degrade Iran’s military capabilities. He underscored the readiness of American officials to maintain pressure until strategic objectives are met.
