SHO among seven killed in Lakki Marwat attack

Published on: March 13, 2026 9:17 PM

Seven policemen, including the station house officer (SHO), were martyred in an IED attack on a police vehicle in KP’s Lakki Marwat. The attack took place in the Bettani subdivision while officers were on routine patrol. The explosion targeted law enforcement personnel and shocked the local community.

District police spokesman Qudratullah said the terrorists had planted the IED along the Shahdikhel-Mastikhel road. Six officers, including the SHO and five constables, died instantly, while one injured officer later succumbed to wounds. Authorities said the attack was meticulously planned to strike police personnel.

A large police contingent reached the area after the blast, securing the site and launching a search for the attackers. Investigators are examining forensic evidence and gathering intelligence to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Security forces warned that any information on suspects would be rewarded.

President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack, prayed for the martyrs, and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He emphasized that the state’s resolve to eliminate terrorism remains “unwavering,” underlining continued national security efforts.
