Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari strongly condemned what she described as a “dirty and low-level” social media campaign targeting Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, accusing opposition parties of orchestrating offensive online content through coordinated networks. Bokhari said the campaign relies on so-called YouTubers and even fake women accounts to spread defamatory material under the guise of freedom of expression.
In a video statement, she highlighted that since 2014, Maryam Nawaz has been subjected to repeated online attacks. Bokhari criticized the lack of thorough investigation by senior journalists into controversies, including the recent plane issue, despite hundreds of vlogs and TV programs covering the topic. She emphasized that this cycle of “filth” must come to an end.

The minister noted that while her party has significant political points to make, they refrain from personal attacks, following ethical training and professional conduct. She said the opposition is misusing trivial matters to launch personal campaigns instead of focusing on governance and development achievements.
Bokhari questioned whether other chief ministers face similar scrutiny for travel or public duties, pointing out that the opposition has previously mismanaged government resources, implemented costly shuttle services, and overseen mass recruitment failures, highlighting their own record of inefficiency.

She further criticized the opposition’s approach, stating that it reflects poor political training and toxic behavior, while expressing sympathy for women in households affected by such conduct. Bokhari stressed that the campaign does not affect Maryam Nawaz, who remains committed to public service and governance.
The minister also highlighted key government initiatives, including a 41 billion PKR Ramadan package, electric bus programs, 103 billion PKR easy business loans, Dahi Rani and Suthra Punjab programs creating 150,000 jobs and housing, and 10 billion PKR assistance to Balochistan. She recalled the 200 billion PKR flood relief package, asserting that opposition attacks only reveal their unethical tactics.
