
QUETTA: Security forces in Balochistan have killed 22 additional terrorists during ongoing sweeps, bringing the total number of militants neutralized over the past two days to 177, according to security officials.
The operations follow a large-scale, coordinated assault on Saturday, when terrorists from the group Fitna-al-Hindustan targeted over 10 cities and towns across the province. Security and government installations were the primary targets, and suicide bombers, including female attackers, were involved in the attacks.

The state has designated Balochistan-based groups as Fitna-al-Hindustan to underline India’s alleged role in fomenting terrorism and instability in Pakistan.
During the clashes on Saturday, 15 security personnel and 18 civilians lost their lives, while the security forces succeeded in repelling the attackers. In response, extensive cordon-and-search operations were launched to clear towns, cities, and rural areas of remaining militant elements.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, speaking on Sunday, expressed determination to eliminate terrorists from the province. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif added that peace had largely been restored following the attacks, with security forces now focused on a “mopping-up operation.”
Meanwhile, mobile internet services remained suspended for the third consecutive day across Quetta, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, and other cities. Balochistan’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Hamza Shafqaat, said the suspension was expected to continue for one more day before services are restored.

Security officials said overnight sweeps led to the killing of the additional 22 terrorists, noting that the “noose is tightening” around remaining militant elements.
