Deadly attacks in Balochistan leave 10 security personnel martyred

Published on: January 31, 2026 3:49 PM

At least 10 police and security personnel were martyred in Balochistan after coordinated attacks were launched at multiple locations across the province, security sources said on Saturday. The assaults targeted 12 sites, prompting a large-scale response from security forces, who reportedly killed 58 militants during counter-operations.

According to the sources, security forces and law enforcement agencies swiftly repelled the attacks, while pursuit operations against fleeing militants remain ongoing. Additional casualties among the attackers are feared as operations continue in different areas of the province.

The attacks were attributed by officials to Fitna al-Hindustan (FAH), which Pakistan alleges is backed by India. Authorities said the militants’ plans were thwarted due to timely intelligence and coordinated action by police, Frontier Corps, and other law enforcement agencies.

During the violence, five members of a Baloch labour family from Khuzdar were killed in Gwadar. The victims included a woman and three children, drawing strong condemnation from government officials.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for foiling the attacks and paid tribute to the fallen personnel, saying the nation stood united with the armed forces in the fight against terrorism. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the forces, describing the martyred personnel as national heroes whose sacrifices would not be forgotten.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the attacks failed to weaken the state’s resolve, stressing that anti-state elements would not be forgiven. He visited a blast site in Quetta, reviewed the security situation, and met with police and paramilitary officials.

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar termed the assaults a “desperate move,” adding that heightened vigilance prevented greater losses. He said the prime minister was in constant contact with relevant authorities as counterterror operations continue.
