ICC releases list of iconic T20 World Cup performances

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released a list of iconic performances in T20 World Cup history. Pakistan’s former all-rounder Shahid Afridi was included for his exceptional 2009 World Cup showing. Afridi scored 51 runs and took 2 wickets in the semi-final and later played a match-winning 54-run innings in the final.

The ICC highlighted several other memorable performances. In 2007, Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in a single over, while Australia’s Mike Hussey scored 60 runs off 24 balls against Pakistan in 2010. West Indies’ Sunil Narine took 3 wickets for just 9 runs in 2012, and Rangana Herath claimed 5 wickets in the 2014 semi-final.

In 2016, Carlos Brathwaite hit four consecutive sixes in the final, and in 2021, Mitchell Marsh scored 77 runs in the final. England’s Ben Stokes also made the list for his 52-run innings against Pakistan in the 2022 World Cup.

The ICC also included Virat Kohli’s brilliant 76-run innings in the 2024 T20 World Cup. The list celebrates performances that turned matches and left a lasting impact on fans worldwide. ICC officials said these moments highlight the excitement and unpredictability of T20 cricket.

The list reflects both batting and bowling achievements across tournaments and generations. ICC emphasized that such performances inspire young players and celebrate the sport’s global appeal. Fans worldwide continue to relive these historic T20 moments.
