
KARACHI / HYDERABAD: Only hours after being appointed Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai began his first official political engagement in the new role on Friday, leading a high-profile Tehreek Tahafuz-i-Ayeen Pakistan (TTAP) delegation to Sindh.

The four-day tour aims to mobilise public support for nationwide protests and a strike scheduled for February 8. The delegation includes Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Akhunzada Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai, Asad Qaiser, and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, the counsel of PTI founder Imran Khan.

The TTAP leaders were received at Jinnah International Airport by party officials and workers, marking the formal start of the Sindh visit. TTAP spokesman Akhunzada Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai said the tour focuses on preparations for demonstrations intended to “safeguard constitutional rights and protest the worsening political situation and erosion of democratic norms.”
During the visit, Achakzai, Raja Nasir Abbas, and Asad Qaiser are scheduled to attend the 122nd birth anniversary of veteran Sindh nationalist leader G. M. Syed in Sann on Saturday. TTAP Vice President and Sindh United Party (SUP) chief Syed Zain Shah confirmed that party leaders would participate in the anniversary events organised by SUP, which was founded by Zain Shah’s family.

Sources said the delegation would also make a brief stop in Hyderabad on Saturday evening, visiting PTI’s Latifabad office, Insaf House, before returning to Karachi. TTAP leadership indicated no additional political commitments in Hyderabad beyond the scheduled gathering.

The visit coincides with other Sindh nationalist parties holding separate commemorative programmes for G. M. Syed, including Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz-Bashir, Jeay Sindh Rahbar Committee, and JSQM-Arisar, highlighting the fragmented political landscape in the province.
