PM Shehbaz launches Pakistan Assan Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad

Published on: January 15, 2026 4:10 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the Pakistan Assan Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad, a one-window service centre aimed at improving access to key government services for residents of the federal capital.

Speaking at the ceremony, the premier said the initiative was an important step toward modernising public service delivery in Pakistan. He thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for supporting the establishment of the centre, noting that the new facility had been modelled on Azerbaijan’s globally recognised Asan Khidmat system.

Recalling his recent visit to Baku, the prime minister said he was “greatly impressed” by the efficiency and citizen-focused governance demonstrated by Azerbaijan’s public service model. “Institutions including NADRA, the Foreign Office, the Police and others will be working under one roof to provide services to the general public,” he added.

Officials briefed the prime minister on the centre’s operations, which aim to provide a range of essential services without requiring citizens to visit multiple offices. The government says the streamlined system will reduce bureaucratic hurdles and improve public convenience.

PM Shehbaz also announced plans to expand the scope of the Pakistan Assan Khidmat Markaz to Muzaffarabad and Gilgit-Baltistan, with further expansion likely if the Islamabad pilot performs well.

The project stems from cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. During a meeting in September 2025, Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan’s State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations (SAPSSI) agreed to replicate the Asan Khidmat model in Pakistan, calling it a “new milestone” in bilateral ties.

Officials noted that Pakistan sees Azerbaijan’s citizen-service delivery as a successful foreign model that can be adapted to Pakistan’s administrative landscape with long-term benefits for public governance.
