Sialkot PSL owner pledges major cricket investment

Published on: January 10, 2026 7:30 PM

Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Sialkot owner Hamza Majeed on Saturday vowed significant investment in cricket infrastructure, prioritizing local talent development. He announced that the Jinnah Stadium would undergo revamping and upgradation to support professional and community-level cricket. Majeed emphasized that Sialkot would serve as the team’s permanent home ground, ensuring the city benefits directly from the PSL franchise.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, he said reviving community cricket in Sialkot is his foremost objective. He stressed that strengthening grassroots programs and facilities will create new opportunities for emerging players. The upgrades at Jinnah Stadium are expected to modernize the venue, enhance training facilities, and make it suitable for hosting high-profile matches in the future.

Majeed highlighted that local players would remain the first priority while establishing contacts with foreign players to build a competitive PSL squad. He explained that nurturing homegrown talent is key to sustainable success and long-term growth of cricket in Sialkot. Investment in coaching, infrastructure, and youth programs will form the backbone of his strategy.

He further stated that the PSL franchise aims to contribute to Pakistan’s cricketing culture while generating economic opportunities in Sialkot. Majeed said professional management and long-term planning are essential to elevate local players to national and international standards. The initiative is also expected to inspire more youth to take up cricket seriously.
