Sialkot became the eighth team in the PSL earlier this month, after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) awarded the franchise to OZ Developers, owned by Hamza Majeed, in a high-profile auction held at Islamabad’s Jinnah Convention Centre. The PSL will expand from six to eight teams for the 2026 season, scheduled from March 26 to May 3.
Khan said the franchise entered the auction with clear objectives and ambitious plans. “Our aim is to bring top international talent to the Sialkot team,” he said, adding that the management would also rely on a strong local coaching staff to develop players and represent the region with pride.
The co-owner expressed confidence that PSL matches will continue to attract large crowds, regardless of the venue. He highlighted Sialkot’s upcoming clashes with Lahore Qalandars, calling the rivalry “competitive on the field, but friendly off it.”
Khan praised the PSL for its role in strengthening Pakistani cricket, saying the league has grown into a major attraction for cricket fans across the country. He added that all key decisions regarding the franchise, including player acquisitions and strategic plans, would be finalized in consultation with the PCB.
“The PSL will move forward and become even stronger,” Khan said, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between franchises and the board. The addition of the Sialkot franchise is expected to bring fresh energy to the tournament, enhancing competition and expanding opportunities for local talent.
