Mother Gothel remains one of Disney’s most unsettling antagonists, driven by an obsession with eternal youth and willing to manipulate Rapunzel to maintain it. In Tangled, she exploits the magical properties of Rapunzel’s hair, keeping the young princess confined while disguising her intentions as motherly concern.
News of Hahn’s possible casting follows recent confirmations that Teagan Croft will play Rapunzel, while Milo Manheim has been selected for the role of Flynn Rider. The original animated film starred Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, went on to earn over $590 million globally, and maintains high critical approval, including an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The live-action adaptation is expected to retain the musical structure of the original, with several beloved songs anticipated to return. Michael Gracey, best known for The Greatest Showman, is set to direct, while Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will write the screenplay.
