The suspect, identified as Masroor Hussain, was presented before the court following the recovery of four bodies from a manhole near Mai Kolachi Road on January 3. The victims, later identified by a family member, included Anila, 35, and her children — Husain Ali, 13, Muhammad Zulqarnain, 12, and Kishwara Zehra, 14. Post-mortem reports confirmed the victims were killed with sharp-edged weapons and subjected to severe physical violence.
During the hearing, the IO highlighted that the investigation was at a critical stage, emphasizing the need for custodial interrogation. Police custody, he argued, would help recover crime weapon(s), identify any additional suspects, and prevent tampering with evidence. The court accepted the request, noting the gravity of the crime and the importance of securing truthful and detailed disclosures.
The investigation continues under a case registered at Docks police station, falling under Section 302 (murder) and Section 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Authorities stated that the remand will allow them to collect further material evidence and ensure a thorough and effective probe.
The court also directed the police to submit a progress report during the next hearing. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials urged the public to come forward with any information related to the case to assist the ongoing investigation.
