The Punjab government has announced plans to operate e-bus from Gujar Khan to T-Chowk, linking the area with Islamabad through an expanded e-bus network. The service is expected to begin next month, with 15 electric buses allocated for the route.
Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Asad Shirazi said the route from Gujar Khan to T-Chowk has already been approved. He explained that the service will start from Gujar Khan Adda, pass through Mandra, and terminate at T-Chowk, a key entry point connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

According to officials, the buses will operate along the G.T. Road, covering a straight route between T-Chowk and the Jhelum boundary in Gujar Khan. The return service will follow the same route, providing a direct and convenient travel option for commuters.
Mr Shirazi said the introduction of the new route is part of a broader plan to expand the electric bus network in Rawalpindi. He added that the number of e-buses operating in the city will increase from 45 to 80 within the next few months.
He said that after the completion of remodelling work at Kutchery Chowk, six additional routes would be opened. This expansion is expected to significantly enhance public transport coverage in the city.
According to RTA officials, more than 26,000 passengers are currently using electric buses daily on four operational routes. The number is expected to rise further once additional routes and buses are introduced.
Meanwhile, Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan inaugurated 15 electric buses in Jhelum city. He said that during the first phase, the buses would operate on three different routes in Jhelum district, with more vehicles to be added next month.
