Rakesh Anand Bakshi, son of legendary Bollywood lyricist Anand Bakshi, has publicly criticised the makers of the upcoming film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri over the way lyric credits have been assigned for the remix of the iconic song Saat Samundar Paar.

The controversy erupted after the credits for the remixed version of the song listed Anand Bakshi and Karan Nawani as co-lyricists. Rakesh Bakshi objected to this decision, arguing that adding a few lines to an already well-established song does not justify co-lyricist status alongside the original writer.

Taking to Instagram on December 24, Rakesh expressed his displeasure and called for reforms in how lyric credits are handled in remixes. He said producers or publishers should not credit an additional writer as a co-lyricist merely for contributing one or two new lines. Instead, he suggested that a distinction be made between original and additional lyrics, similar to how music credits already differentiate between original composition and additional music.
“This is the format currently used on streaming platforms,” he wrote, adding that the industry urgently needs to update and standardise crediting practices. Emphasising the need for change, he remarked that it was 2025 and not an era where reforms could not be implemented swiftly.
The original Saat Samundar Paar was featured in the 1992 film Vishwatma. The song, composed by Viju Shah and penned by Anand Bakshi, remains one of the most popular tracks of the era and is still widely remembered for its lyrics and melody. The remix, however, has drawn mixed reactions from fans, with some welcoming the modern take while others criticising the alteration of a classic.
