Rob Reiner and wife found dead in Los Angeles home

LOS ANGELES: Two people were found dead at the Los Angeles home of actor-director Rob Reiner on Sunday, with authorities investigating the circumstances as an apparent homicide, the LAPD said. The identities of the deceased were confirmed by law enforcement sources and family statements.

The victims were reported to be Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele, 68. A spokesperson for the Reiner family said, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

Condolences have poured in from across the entertainment and political world. California Governor Gavin Newsom described Reiner as a “big-hearted genius,” while the Mayor of Los Angeles called the deaths “a devastating loss for our city and country.” Actor Elijah Wood expressed that he was “horrified” and sent love to the couple’s children. Musician Sean Ono Lennon hailed Reiner as “one of the greatest of all time.”

Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, according to a source close to the Reiner family.

The source said the couple appeared to have died from stab wounds.

Rob Reiner was best known for his acting role on the 1970s CBS comedy All in the Family and for directing iconic films such as The Princess Bride, This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally, Stand by Me, and A Few Good Men. Beyond his career in Hollywood, Reiner was a political activist who supported Democratic candidates and participated in campaigns critical of former President George W. Bush.

Michele Reiner, a former photographer, gained recognition for capturing the photograph of Donald Trump featured on the cover of his book Trump: The Art of the Deal. The couple had three children together. Rob Reiner, a New York native and son of late comedian Carl Reiner, was previously married to Penny Marshall.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths. No further details about the cause have been released, and officials have asked for privacy while inquiries proceed.
