
SHIKARPUR – The by-election in Sindh’s PS-9 Shikarpur is underway today, with election materials already delivered to all polling stations and authorities ensuring preparedness for smooth voting.
A total of 277,792 registered voters will cast their ballots, including 148,310 men and 129,482 women, across 178 polling stations set up in the constituency for both male, female, and combined voters.
Among the polling stations, 54 have been declared highly sensitive and 84 as sensitive, requiring additional security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful election process for all participants.

Eight candidates are contesting the seat, including Agha Shahbaz Khan Durrani of the Pakistan Peoples Party and Maulana Rushdullah Shah of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, making the race highly competitive.
This seat became vacant following the death of Agha Siraj Durrani, a prominent PPP member of the Sindh Provincial Assembly, whose passing triggered the need for this crucial by-election.

Sindh Election Commissioner Ijaz Anwar Chohan has directed all relevant institutions to facilitate free, fair, and transparent voting, urging officials to maintain law and order and address any emerging issues immediately.
