
LAHORE – Ahead of the revival of Basant, Lahore’s district administration has announced registration fees for kite and string manufacturers to ensure safe and organized celebrations across the city.
Officials stated that following the Punjab Government’s conditional approval of Basant, clear rules have been issued for kite manufacturing, string preparation, and kite-flying associations to regulate the festival effectively.

Under the new policy, kite and string makers must pay Rs1,000 for registration, while kite-flying associations are required to submit Form C and pay a fee of Rs5,000 to authorities.
Safety standards have also been introduced for kite strings. Officials clarified that only cotton-based threads are allowed, and strings with more than nine strands are strictly prohibited to reduce risks of injuries.

Authorities emphasized that these measures aim to protect public safety, prevent hazardous materials, and maintain law and order during the festival. Only registered participants complying with the rules will be permitted to operate.
The administration warned that violators will face strict fines and legal action. Citizens have been urged to celebrate responsibly, cooperate with authorities, and enjoy Basant safely to preserve this cultural tradition.
