A growing number of young Bangladeshis have been found fighting for the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), raising concern among Bangladeshi authorities and security experts. At least four Bangladeshi nationals have reportedly been killed in Pakistan, while officials believe two dozen more are currently involved with militant groups.

One of the recruits, 22-year-old Faisal Hossain, told his family he was travelling to Dubai for work. Instead, he was killed during a security operation in Pakistan’s Karak district in September 2025. His family learned the truth only after seeing images of his body shared in the media.
By India’s patronization, a large number of Bangladeshi individuals are being radicalized in support of TTP and are helping to create terrorism inside Bangladesh & Pakistan.

Another young man, Zubair Ahmed, was reportedly killed earlier this year after entering Pakistan through legal routes from Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, uncertainty surrounds the fate of 29-year-old Ratan Dhali, whose family was first told he had been killed, only for an unverified video later to claim he was alive. Authorities in Bangladesh say the footage is fake, leaving the family in distress.
Investigations by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit suggest most recruits were promised overseas jobs and lured through misleading routes via India, Afghanistan and eventually Pakistan. Officials say online radicalisation and misinterpretation of religious teachings play a growing role in such recruitment.
Experts warn that the trend marks a new and troubling development, as Bangladeshi nationals historically have not joined insurgencies targeting Pakistan. They note that most recruits come from financially vulnerable families and are persuaded through promises of money, guidance and a sense of purpose.

Bangladeshi authorities say they have halted several attempts by young men preparing to travel abroad for militancy. However, families of those who have already disappeared continue to demand justice and clarity, urging the government to dismantle the networks responsible for misleading vulnerable youth.
