According to a report obtained by Dunya News, over 794,000 illegal number plates were confiscated during the first ten months of 2025, resulting in fines totaling more than Rs202 million. The operation targeting vehicles with tinted windows led to over 202,000 fines, generating penalties exceeding Rs101 million.

Among the province’s major cities, Lahore recorded the highest number of violations, with more than 300,000 illegal number plates seized and 64,000 tinted window offenses penalized. Other cities, including Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Multan, also witnessed substantial enforcement actions as authorities sought to ensure compliance with traffic laws.

Punjab Traffic Police officials stressed that these measures are not intended merely to collect fines, but to enhance public safety and enforce the rule of law. They urged vehicle owners to comply with regulations, warning that continued violations would attract strict action.

The crackdown is part of a broader initiative to improve road discipline and reduce accidents in the province. Authorities have highlighted the need for vehicle owners to maintain proper documentation, follow safety guidelines, and remove illegal modifications to avoid penalties.

Traffic experts have welcomed the initiative, noting that consistent enforcement is crucial for cultivating a culture of law-abiding drivers. The government has also pledged to maintain vigilance in the coming months, ensuring that the roads remain safer for all citizens.
