
A man in India’s southern state of Tamil Nadu brutally killed his estranged wife at a women’s hostel in Tirunelveli and took a selfie with her dead body, police said. The victim, identified as Sripriya, was employed at a private firm in Coimbatore, while her husband, Balamurugan, hailed from Tirunelveli.

Police reported that Balamurugan arrived at the hostel on Sunday afternoon concealing a sickle in his clothes, seeking to meet his wife. The couple got into an argument, which quickly escalated into violence. He attacked Sripriya with the sickle, killing her on the spot.
After the attack, the suspect reportedly took a selfie with Sripriya’s body and posted it on his WhatsApp status, accusing her of “betrayal.” The gruesome act caused panic among hostel residents, who alerted authorities immediately.

Balamurugan did not flee the scene. He remained at the hostel until police arrived and arrested him. The murder weapon was recovered by law enforcement, and an initial investigation suggested the suspect believed his wife was involved with another man.
