King Charles has reopened communication with Prince Harry after years of strained relations, following a private meeting earlier in the year. Since then, Harry has maintained regular contact with his father and is now hoping for another meeting that would allow his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to reunite with their grandfather. However, upcoming royal plans may complicate this expectation.
The King is scheduled to visit the United States in spring 2026 for a historic State Visit marking the 250th birthday of the country. While preparations between the Palace and the White House continue, questions remain over whether the monarch will meet his California-based grandchildren during the tightly scheduled trip. Harry has repeatedly expressed concern about his family’s security in the UK and recently contacted the Home Secretary again after a stalking incident heightened those fears.

However, royal experts suggest that a meeting is unlikely due to the King’s demanding itinerary. Commentator Jennie Bond noted that official visits leave little time for personal matters, making a cross-country trip to California improbable. She added that such reunions often risk overshadowing the true purpose of the visit, prompting the Palace to discourage any plans that could shift media attention.
Even so, Bond believes a brief meeting could still occur if Harry and Meghan choose to travel to the East Coast, where the King and Queen may be based during the visit. She said such a reunion, while possible, remains challenging because public focus would inevitably shift toward the Sussexes, especially given ongoing interest in their relationship with the royal family.

Bond further emphasized that Harry and Meghan will be urged to maintain a low profile during the King’s time in the United States. Officials reportedly want to ensure that attention stays firmly on the State Visit and its diplomatic goals rather than family dynamics. As a result, any reunion would require careful planning to avoid overshadowing the event.
With no official confirmation of a meeting yet, the possibility of Archie and Lilibet reuniting with their grandfather remains uncertain. For now, the Palace appears focused on managing expectations and preserving the significance of the upcoming visit.
