Memon: Karachi suffered violence under London leadership

Published on: November 29, 2025 6:45 PM

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon accused the London-based founder of giving Karachi nothing but violence and extortion. He said the city was handed to him through planned decisions. He also claimed Karachi suffered from weapons, targeted killings, and extortion slips during that period.

During a press conference in Karachi, Memon said some leaders seek power through questionable methods. However, he stressed that Bilawal Bhutto will become prime minister only through public support. He noted that the PPP is celebrating its 58th foundation day with over 100 events nationwide, and Bilawal’s speech will be broadcast live across Pakistan.

He added that the PPP has always followed a democratic path. Moreover, he said the party’s struggle has consistently focused on national progress. Memon stated that PPP workers are proud of their political legacy and values.

When asked about the governor’s possible removal, Memon said the matter concerns the federal government. Responding to a question about Imran Khan, he said the PTI founder is living comfortably in jail and facing no torture. He accused him of harming the country through alleged conspiracies.

Memon sharply criticised the city’s past under Altaf’s leadership. He said Karachi saw heroin culture, extortion networks, and “body bag” killings during that time. However, he added that the city is now improving, with garbage removal underway and water projects progressing.
