Maryam Nawaz hails N League’s performance in by-elections

Published on: November 24, 2025 4:35 PM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on Monday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won by-elections on the strength of performance, not narratives. She noted that neither Faiz Hameed nor the judges who helped PTI in past elections were present. The by-elections reflected the public’s trust in PML-N’s governance rather than slogans.

Speaking at a meeting with provincial ministers and secretaries, Maryam Nawaz said the by-elections were not a referendum but a democratic process. She thanked Allah for PML-N’s success in regaining the seats lost in the 2024 elections. She called the victory historic and said it demonstrated public confidence in the party’s work.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that voters in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa supported PML-N based on performance, not rhetoric. She highlighted that the party won six of seven Punjab Assembly seats and all six National Assembly seats in the by-elections. According to her, the results showed that voters are tired of empty narratives and respond to actual work.

She criticized PTI and other narrative-driven groups, saying they fail to deliver and mislead youth. Referring to the Haryanpur victory, she said claims of popularity by PTI were “grounded.” She also noted that PML-N stayed steadfast despite past election manipulations and challenges from other parties.

Maryam Nawaz recalled that in 2018, despite political obstacles, PML-N did not boycott elections. She said the absence of Faiz Hameed and the biased judges who helped PTI earlier reflected that times have changed. She concluded that PML-N’s focus on performance, not slogans, secured voter trust in the by-elections.
