After the deadline passed, the threats escalated when the trader received a parcel via courier containing two 9mm bullets. The criminals reportedly claimed connections to a gang-war group and warned of serious consequences if their demands were not met.
Karachi police have registered a case and are investigating both the source of the international calls and the parcel. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious communications or deliveries.
This incident comes amid a rise in organized crime and extortion in Karachi. Earlier this week, a car showroom on New M.A. Jinnah Road, Shikarpur Colony, was attacked after its owner refused to pay Rs 5 million in extortion. The attacker allegedly opened fire following threats sent via unknown numbers.
