Senior Iranian Foreign Ministry Official Says Deal With US Possible Today

Published on: June 15, 2026 4:37 AM

US-Iran agreement

A senior official from Iran’s Foreign Ministry has indicated that a US-Iran agreement could be reached today, although concerns remain that last-minute developments may disrupt the process. The official said negotiations have entered a critical stage and the coming hours could prove decisive for both sides.

Speaking to Geo News, the senior Iranian official was asked about comments made by US President Donald Trump, who reportedly told journalists that a deal with Iran could be finalized today and that it might be signed within the next few hours.

The official responded by saying that Israel’s airstrikes on Lebanon on Sunday morning constituted a clear violation of the understanding proposed by the United States. According to him, both the Iranian government and the public are deeply angered by the incident, making it necessary to closely assess the situation before moving forward.

Another senior official from Iran’s Foreign Ministry echoed similar concerns, stating that tensions remain high in Iran. He warned that there are fears Israel could undertake additional actions at the last moment that might undermine the negotiations or create obstacles to any potential agreement.

When asked directly whether a deal could still be achieved today, the senior official said the possibility remains strong. He expressed hope that discussions would conclude successfully and that a US-Iran agreement could be finalized if developments proceed as expected.
