Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that the operation against illegally residing Afghans and other foreign nationals in Punjab is continuing at full pace. She stated that this province-wide crackdown is being carried out in an organized, legal, and effective manner.
Azma Bokhari added that the Punjab government has encouraged citizens to share information under the whistleblower mechanism, leading to multiple individuals providing accurate and actionable intelligence. She said that citizens who identify illegally residing Afghans will be given cash rewards, and the identity of every whistleblower will remain strictly confidential.
The Minister informed that 6,220 illegal Afghan nationals have been repatriated to their country over the past three weeks, and the operation will continue effectively in the coming days. She said the repatriation process of illegal Afghan residents from Punjab is progressing successfully, and the government is strictly adhering to its zero-tolerance policy in this regard.
Rawalpindi police apprehend 38 Afghan nationals
Rawalpindi Police launched comprehensive search operations across the city on Wednesday to ensure law and order.A total of 1,271 houses, 642 shops, and 63 hotels were searched, while 1,978 individuals were questioned, a police spokesperson informed.
As a result of these operations, 38 illegal Afghan nationals were arrested. Police also scrutinized the records of two brick kilns, 15 scrap yards, and three bus/truck stands.
In an effort to verify tenant registration, 11 cases were registered against individuals who had failed to properly register their tenancy.
