
KARACHI: The dengue outbreak in Karachi continues to escalate, claiming two more lives as 90 new patients were admitted to government hospitals over the past 24 hours, the Director General (DG) Health Sindh reported. The virus has also affected private hospitals, where 85 additional patients are currently under treatment.
According to the latest health department data, 249 dengue patients are receiving care in government hospitals across the city, while 160 are being treated in private facilities. In total, 556 beds have been allocated for dengue patients in public hospitals and 220 in private hospitals in Karachi.

In Hyderabad, the province’s second-largest city, 167 beds are designated for dengue patients in government hospitals, with 207 beds reserved in private hospitals. The health department is also running 38 active laboratories in Karachi and 19 in Hyderabad to test suspected dengue cases.
In the last 24 hours, 4,598 dengue tests were conducted across Sindh, of which 828 returned positive. The DG Health Sindh urged residents to take preventive measures against mosquito bites and remain vigilant as the outbreak shows no signs of slowing down.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have emphasized the need for both public awareness and hospital preparedness to manage the rising number of dengue cases.
