
KARACHI: The Sindh health department on Wednesday confirmed two more deaths caused by dengue fever in Karachi and Hyderabad, raising the provincial death toll to 29 this year.
According to the department, one of the deceased patients was a resident of Karachi’s Liaquatabad area. It said that 5,412 tests were conducted across Sindh in the past 24 hours, out of which 976 came back positive for dengue.

In Karachi Division alone, 3,951 tests were carried out, resulting in 528 confirmed cases. In Hyderabad Division, 1,461 tests were conducted, with 448 positive results.
Health Secretary Rehan Baloch said that 127 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals and 84 to private hospitals during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 96 patients were discharged from government facilities and 79 from private hospitals after recovery.
So far in November, 8,331 dengue cases have been reported in Sindh, bringing the total number of infections this year to 13,908.

Currently, 269 patients are under treatment in government hospitals and 184 in private facilities across the province.
The health department has allocated 1,026 beds for dengue patients in public sector hospitals — including 293 in Karachi, 167 in Hyderabad, and 556 in other districts — while private hospitals have reserved an additional 482 beds.
