Sindh High Court seeks updates on missing persons cases

Published on: November 10, 2025 12:27 PM

SHC issues notices to govt, law enforcement agencies in missing persons' cases
KARACHI – The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the government and law enforcement agencies, seeking their responses in ongoing cases concerning missing persons. The hearing was conducted under the supervision of Acting Chief Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput.

During the proceedings, a petitioner’s lawyer informed the court that Saad Alam went missing after visiting a barber near Ferozabad Police Station and has not returned home. Despite a missing person report filed by his father-in-law, no leads have emerged, and his phone remains switched off. The court inquired whether Alam might have left voluntarily, but the lawyer confirmed that he only went out for a haircut.

In another case, the lawyer reported that Abdul Subghat, who had recently been released on bail after serving three years in prison, went missing from the Sohrab Goth area. Authorities were urged to trace him immediately.

The court directed all concerned parties to conduct thorough searches and submit progress reports within four weeks, before adjourning the hearing. The move reflects ongoing concerns over enforced disappearances and missing persons in the province.
