
The University of Gujrat’s Readers Club hosted an engaging introductory ceremony at Hafiz Hayat Campus to welcome its newly elected office bearers and inducted members. Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Dr Zahid Yousaf served as chief guest, while Dr Rukhsana Riaz, the club’s coordinator, led the proceedings.
Distinguished guests included Director Media & Publications Dr Muhammad Yousaf and former club leaders such as Zoqia Tariq, Anila Abid, Ayesha Tariq and others. The event aimed to introduce new members to the club’s mission of promoting reading culture and literary dialogue on campus.
In his address, Prof. Dr Zahid Yousaf emphasized that literature and knowledge are the bedrock of human civilization. “Reading refines society and nurtures awareness,” he said, encouraging students to explore diverse forms of expression through campus media.

Dr. Muhammad Yousaf, Director of Media & Publications, delivered a powerful reflection on the transformative power of books during his address at the event. Dr. Yousaf explained that books are not merely sources of information; they are tools that ignite curiosity, spark critical thinking, and foster creativity. According to him, every book holds the potential to challenge existing perspectives, introduce new concepts, and inspire innovative solutions to societal challenges. By reading, individuals can expand their intellectual boundaries, engage with diverse worldviews, and generate ideas that drive progress in various fields, from science and technology to arts and social justice.
Dr Rukhsana Riaz warmly welcomed the new members, presented them with introduction cards and reiterated the club’s commitment to fostering a love for books.
