University of Gujrat ranked among top ten universities in Pakistan

Published on: October 11, 2025 4:47 PM

According to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, the University of Gujrat (UoG) has been placed among the world’s top 801–1000 universities. In terms of Research Quality, UoG now ranks 363rd globally. Based on this ranking, the University of Gujrat is also recognized among the top 10 universities in Pakistan.

In the Subject Rankings 2025, UoG is placed in the 501–600 band, while in the Impact Rankings 2025 for SDG 4 – Quality Education, it falls within the 101–200 band.

It is noteworthy that the Times Higher Education list includes 2,191 universities from 115 countries. The THE ranking system is regarded worldwide as the most credible and authoritative benchmark for students, faculty, policymakers, and industry experts. Each year, THE collects comprehensive data from universities around the world to evaluate their performance and promote a culture of healthy academic competition, encouraging excellence in teaching and research.

This year, a total of 99 universities from Pakistan were included in the ranking. Out of these, 48 universities received an official rank, while the remaining were classified as “reporters”, meaning they participated in the evaluation process but did not receive a numerical ranking.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahoor ul Haq, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, described this achievement as the result of the collective efforts of the faculty, students, and administration. He expressed confidence that the University of Gujrat’s faculty would continue to demonstrate dedication and responsibility in advancing excellence in education and research.

Dr. Zahoor ul Haq further noted that the university’s ranking has improved significantly compared to previous years. He emphasized that with continued enhancement in research quality, teaching standards, academic–industry linkages, and a supportive environment for high-quality research across disciplines, the University of Gujrat is well-positioned to achieve even higher rankings in the future.
