QUETTA: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, along with other members of the federal cabinet, arrived in Turbat late Sunday evening to hold talks with National Party (NP) chief Dr Abdul Malik Baloch. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti also joined the meeting, which sources said aimed to secure the NP’s support for the controversial 27th Constitutional Amendment currently under debate in parliament.

The visit followed just hours after the National Party publicly rejected the government’s move to table the amendment in the Senate. According to insiders, the hour-long discussion centered on the broader political climate and the amendment’s implications. The delegation also conveyed a special message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, urging cooperation on the matter.
Earlier, the NP’s central spokesperson said that since the amendment was unveiled, the party had consulted legal experts and held in-depth deliberations at all relevant forums. The party’s leadership concluded that the proposed amendment would undermine the federal spirit and structural integrity of the Constitution.
