LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has reversed its earlier decision on Central Punjab leadership, with Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja announcing the reinstatement of Ahmad Chattha as party president through his X handle. The move comes after internal rifts within the party had been highlighted by previous leadership changes.
According to Raja, the PTI Punjab review committee unanimously recommended restoring Ahmad Chattha, and he explained the events since Chattha’s removal to the committee members. The decision aligns with instructions from party founder Imran Khan. Raja also clarified that a “leaked screenshot” circulating on social media referred to an old discussion from July and did not reflect a formal decision.

PTI chief organizer Aliya Hamza confirmed that Raja’s tweet was sufficient to restore previous leadership positions, nullifying earlier appointments of Ali Imtiaz Warraich as president and Tariq Mahmood as general secretary. The party emphasized that Chattha and Bilal Ejaz now resume their former roles.
It is noted that Ahmad Chattha had also lost his NA-66 seat, which went unopposed to a PML-N candidate after he withdrew from the election on Imran Khan’s instructions. Raja is expected to meet the party founder in Adiala Jail on Tuesday to brief him on Punjab affairs and internal party dynamics.
