BENGALURU – Star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been named in India’s squad for the upcoming two-Test series against South Africa, marking his return from a foot fracture that had ruled him out of the West Indies tour.
Pant, who sustained the injury during a Test match against England in September, missed India’s 2-0 victory over West Indies last month. He made a strong comeback last week, scoring a match-winning 90 for India A against South Africa A in Bengaluru, proving his full fitness.

Fast bowler Akash Deep has also returned to the Test squad after missing the previous series, while senior players including captain Shubman Gill and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah will rejoin the team following the ongoing T20 series in Australia.
The first Test will be played in Kolkata starting November 14, followed by the second in Guwahati from November 22. South Africa, led by Temba Bavuma, also welcome back their captain after a calf injury kept him out of action in Pakistan.
