Published on: November 3, 2025 12:57 AM

First special train carrying 932 Sikh pilgrims from Sindh has arrived in Nankana Sahib on Sunday to attend the 556th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

According to APP correspondent, the pilgrims were warmly welcomed by senior district administration officers, who presented bouquets and showered flower petals on the guests.

As the pilgrims stepped off the train, they were greeted with scenes of happiness, smiles, and brotherhood. The Sikh pilgrims raised religious slogans, such as “Guru Ki Jai Ho Sat Sri Akal” and “Jo Bole So Nihal,” filling the air with spiritual fervor.

The district administration provided a free tunnel service to transport the pilgrims to the central Gurdwara Janam Asthan.

Three-day celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj’s birth anniversary are set to begin at 3 pm on November 2 and will continue until November 6. The festivities will feature various religious rituals, including Akhand Path, and will conclude with a palanquin procession and a magnificent fireworks display.

Around 30,000 pilgrims from worldwide are expected to attend the celebrations, showcasing the significance of Nankana Sahib as a sacred site for Sikhs.

The government of Pakistan has decorated Nankana Sahib to welcome the Sikh guests, and the government of Punjab has released a Punjabi movie, “Chal Mele Na Chale,” highlighting the message of peace, love, and brotherhood.

Birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji are a significant event for the Sikh community, promoting interfaith harmony and cultural exchange.

The event reflects the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Sikhism, and Pakistan’s efforts to showcase its hospitality and respect for minority communities.
