Up to Rs 2.5 million allocated to procure surveillance drones

Published on: November 3, 2025 12:54 AM

It will now be difficult to escape after committing a crime in Lahore. Modern drones will track suspects in the city. Safe City officials have ordered the purchase of ten drones. After the success of the pilot project, the scope will be extended to Punjab to track suspects.

Safe City Authority Chief Operating Officer SSP Captain (retd) Mustansar Feroze says that the docking drones that chase criminals in Dubai, London and New York will now be seen in Pakistan’s major cities.

These docking drones will be connected to the Police Emergency 15-helpline system in the Safe City Authority in Lahore, and the suspects will be immediately pursued through these drones. As soon as a call is received on the 15-helpline for any incident, the drones will automatically come into action. The latest drones will be installed on high-rise buildings with their workstations within the limits of the ten major police stations of the cities. These drones will automatically be in the air through an automated system as soon as they receive a command. The docking drone will be able to patrol up to 15 km in a city. The cost of the latest docking drone is Rs 2.2 to Rs 2.5 million

Initially, funds have been approved for the purchase of 10 drones. An order has been placed for the purchase of docking drones from abroad, which will be received soon. After the first shipment is received, 10 more drones will be ordered. After Lahore, drones will be purchased for the entire Punjab in phases according to demand and area.
