Govt returns Rs3.45b to Hajj pilgrims 2025

Published on: October 23, 2025 5:33 PM

ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced that over 66,000 pilgrims who performed Hajj in 2025 will receive refunds totaling Rs3.45 billion. The refund process will be completed by October 31, with funds transferred directly to the pilgrims’ bank accounts.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, while addressing a press conference, said the government aimed to minimize Hajj expenses and improve management each year. He revealed that savings worth billions were achieved during the 2025 Hajj operations due to cost reductions in accommodation, food, and transport services in Saudi Arabia. These savings will now be distributed among pilgrims based on the level of facilities they used.

According to details, 12,286 pilgrims will receive Rs12,000 each, 13,939 pilgrims will get Rs25,000, 8,496 pilgrims will be refunded Rs48,000, 20,302 pilgrims will receive Rs75,000, 10,945 pilgrims will get Rs90,000, and 400 pilgrims will receive Rs110,000 each. Refunds have already begun and will continue until the end of the month.

Minister Yousaf clarified that only those pilgrims who did not fully utilize the provided facilities—such as housing or transport—are eligible for refunds. Those who benefited from all arrangements will not receive payments. He also announced that during Hajj 2026, pilgrims will receive travel bags and SIM cards with internet access and 300–600 free call minutes through a Saudi telecom company.

He added that training programs and medical facilities will be further improved to ensure a better pilgrimage experience for all.
