Protest brings Islamabad, Rawalpindi to a standstill

Published on: October 11, 2025 12:43 PM

A protest by a religious party has brought life to a standstill in Islamabad and Rawalpindi for a second day. Roads across both cities remain sealed, making travel almost impossible. Businesses are shut, schools are closed, and internet services are suspended. The situation has caused major disruptions in daily life, affecting thousands of residents and commuters. Authorities continue to monitor the protest closely.

Major roads like Expressway, IJP Road, and Faizabad Interchange are completely blocked with shipping containers. Access routes such as Khanna Pul, Kuri Road, and Dhok Kala Khan also remain closed. In Rawalpindi, areas like Waris Khan, Committee Chowk, and Shamsabad are inaccessible. Even routes from Rawal Road, Shaheen Chowk, and the old airport are shut. These closures have caused heavy traffic and delays across the region.

In Islamabad, most entry points are sealed, especially around the Red Zone. Only Margalla Road is open for public use. Police have blocked all surrounding routes and deployed extra forces at key points. Hotels around Faizabad have also been sealed. Metro bus service remains suspended for the second day due to security concerns.

The Rawalpindi administration has banned heavy traffic from entering the city. Even access to the airport is restricted, delaying many flights. The protest has caused major inconvenience for passengers, students, and business owners. People are struggling to reach their destinations due to the roadblocks and limited transport.
