Lahore experienced rainfall for the second consecutive day on Monday, bringing a noticeable drop in temperature and marking the early arrival of the winter season. The refreshing showers began in the early hours and continued intermittently throughout the morning, offering relief from lingering heat and pollution. Residents welcomed the cool breeze and pleasant weather, with many describing it as the first true sign of winter settling over the provincial capital.
However, the rainfall also led to disruptions across several parts of the city, particularly in the power supply system. Multiple feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripped during the downpour, causing temporary outages in several areas. Teams were immediately deployed to restore electricity, but some neighbourhoods continued to face prolonged power cuts, creating inconvenience for residents. Despite this, the overall mood in the city remained cheerful as temperatures continued to fall.

Light to moderate rain was recorded in several areas, including Defence, Ferozepur Road, Ghazi Road, Walton, Mall Road, Gulshan Ravi, Jail Road, Gulberg, and Kalma Chowk. Water accumulation was reported in low-lying areas, but city authorities said drainage systems were functioning effectively, preventing major traffic disruptions. Morning commuters faced slippery roads and low visibility, yet the weather brought a sense of calm after weeks of dry and dusty conditions.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast additional rain over the next 24 hours, predicting cooler days ahead as a fresh westerly system continues to affect Punjab. The department advised citizens to prepare for further drops in temperature and to exercise caution while driving in wet conditions. It also stated that intermittent showers might continue in some northern and central parts of the province until midweek.
With the recent rainfall, Lahoris have started embracing the transition into winter. Markets have begun stocking warm clothing, and street vendors are serving traditional winter snacks and tea to delighted customers. The city’s parks and roadsides are now filled with the earthy scent of rain, giving Lahore a refreshing start to the changing season after months of scorching heat.
