Pakistan has intensified efforts to attract international partners in its mining sector, with officials highlighting the country’s vast reserves of copper, gold, and rare earth elements. In a recent meeting with outgoing Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik stressed Pakistan’s growing potential to emerge as a major global resource supplier. The discussions underscored opportunities for collaboration in mineral exploration and development, as Pakistan seeks to unlock untapped reserves to strengthen its economy.
During the engagement, Hawkins noted that several Australian subcontractors are already involved in Balochistan’s mineral sector, reflecting the strong interest of Australian companies in Pakistan’s natural wealth. He reiterated Australia’s willingness to expand cooperation and recognized the strategic importance of Pakistan’s resources for international markets. Malik, in turn, praised Hawkins for his contributions to bilateral ties and expressed hope that the High Commissioner would depart with enduring positive memories of his diplomatic tenure.
