US Strategic Metals has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to collaborate on important mineral projects, officials confirmed at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad on Monday.
The signing ceremony was attended by a delegation from US Strategic Metals, along with the acting Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy, Zack Harken Ryder, who highlighted the significance of the partnership.
Speaking at the event, Acting US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker said the agreement reflects the growing strength of US-Pakistan bilateral relations and will bring mutual benefits for both countries in strategic mineral development.
US Strategic Metals, based in Missouri, focuses on the production and recycling of minerals essential for advanced manufacturing and energy technologies, which the US Department of Energy considers critical for national security.
Baker emphasized the importance of such bilateral agreements, noting that the Trump administration prioritized deals securing essential mineral resources to support US prosperity and defense. She expressed hope for more future collaborations in mining and minerals.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has actively encouraged US investors to explore Pakistan’s mineral sector. Earlier this year, he met with an American delegation led by Acting Assistant Secretary Eric Meyer, discussing joint investment opportunities and economic cooperation in key minerals.
US officials, including Mary Bishoping, focused on South and Central Asia, have repeatedly praised Pakistan’s mineral potential and expressed interest in expanding economic and trade cooperation, highlighting shared benefits from growing investment in Pakistan’s emerging mineral industry.
